Yep, I called up the old cable company this week and got the HBO subscription fired back up!!! Why you ask.....Because the new and final season of Six Feet Under starts on Monday!! Yep, Sally and I are ready and hoping for some weirdness from the Fishers!!!! I'm sure they will oblige

..............

The White Stripes didn't break any new ground with their latest album, Get Behind Me Satan, but they really didn't need to. If you like the White Stripes, then you'll like this album. Go here to stream the album. However, I will have to say that Jack White's appearance is getting quite disturbing. I mean, he's looking kinda Michael Jackson freaky.

Air conditioning? We don't need no stinkin' air conditioning! Well today is the first truly hot day of the summer and wouldn't you know it, our AC unit went out!!! And there's no escape to cooler climate in my Jeep either, cause the AC went out on it too!!! It's fans and ice blocks for now. Come on maintenance dude!!!

Yesterday I was officially offered the position of Chief Information Officer for Anderson County Schools and I happily accepted. This is the position that I have been working towards for the past four years. I feel very honored that my supervisors have noticed my work and feel that I have earned this opportunity. I'm very excited about the challenges ahead. I guess I'll be subscribing to this magazine now!

Sterogum has a great list of responses to the line, "You might be an indie-yuppie if..." Unfortunately, I would have to admit that I probably am an Indie-Yuppie. But is that really a bad thing?

When I was in high School, I bought N.W.A.'s Straight Out of Compton at the only place I could buy records in my town, Wal-Mart. Much to my chagrin, when I got in my car to play it, I soon found out that I purchased the "Edited" version by mistake!!! Well, sixteen years later, I found a site that has evened the score! I'm back!!! Wow!! This is the first post I've made in weeks! Sorry about that. The last few weeks have been full of illness for the entire Foster clan. Of course, living in the Allergy Capital of the World, hasn't helped matters. It's also been a huge transition time at work due to the fact that my immediate supervisor has been preparing to move on to another position. But that's how life is. You set priorities and take care of responsibilities and unfortunately, sometimes labors of love, like this site, get neglected. I know, I know, excuses...excuses. However, I do have lots of cool links to share and I did find the time to record another edition of No Voice for Radio that features some really cool Louisville bands. Thanks to largehearted boy, who posted a link to my podcast, I've been getting lots of hits today! Now on with things...

Spoon's new album, Gimme Fiction is released next week. I got my hands on a copy of it a few weeks ago and it is absolutely fantastic. My wife Sally has said that she thinks it's the best Spoon album ever!! Well, it's pretty darn good and I'll be in line to purchase a nice vinyl copy next Tuesday.

Everyone knows that Kentucky girl, Ashley Judd, is a huge Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan. However, many outside of the Commonwealth may not know that she has been writing an article for the Lexington Herald Leader each day that Cats have a game in the NCAA tournament. In today's article she talks about her many "movie star" experiences and how none of them have been more exciting than watching the CATS play in the tournament. One of my favorite moments from today's article is:

"I have been to cathedrals and temples around the world and driven through the streets of Dublin with Bono playing me studio cuts of unreleased music (another type of church, make no mistake about it). So, confuse my intense emotion around UK basketball with lack of depth in other areas at your peril. But all these things, and many others, such as reading a profound book that makes my soul stretch, are no more special than watching a team in our iconic jersey pass the basketball well."

She then goes on to compare making an excellent pass to a delicate kiss. This is great stuff people!!! If this doesn't motivate kids to read, I don't know what will!! Go CATS! Amen.

Band on the run...
As I've said on here before, my good friend Jason is a member of the band Paul K and the Weathermen. Late Sunday night, the band left for Austin, Texas to play at this year's South By Southwest Music Festival. While on the road, Jason will be sending me photos from his phone and giving me short updates of what he and the band are doing. The above photos are the from the drive down to Austin from Louisville, KY. Jason's attached message with each photo are as followed: (Clockwise from the upper left.)

"3:15 AM and fifteen miles from Arkansas!"

"Checking the map."

"We've found Hope!!"

"Almost to David Koresh's house!"

Yesterday, the band played a wedding along with Robyn Hitchcock. Jason reported:

"I don't have a fire-wire card here...but I've got great footage of us playing...and Robyn Hitchcock playing the Kink's 'Waterloo Sunset'....he also performed the wedding ceremony...apparently he was recently ordained on the internet....also, Michael Ivins from the Flaming Lips was there."

Jason will be sending in more reports as the week goes on. If you're at SXSW, Paul K and the Weathermen play Saturday, March 19 at 1:00 a.m. at
BD Riley's located at (204 E 6th St). Go check them out.
